Cherry Picker

Overview

The aim of the cherry picker training course is to provide candidates with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to equip them to safely operate a cherry picker.

Validated by the RTITB (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) the course involves a combination of classroom based learning and practical exercises and is suitable for experienced candidates requiring a refresher and bringing up to date with current legislation as well as novice operatives.

Content

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will have gained practical skills and knowledge about:
  • The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and its implications
  • An employee’s legal duties and responsibilities
  • Responsibilities under 1998 (PUWER). The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
  • Pre-start, running checks and shut down procedures, mount and dismount
  • Operator’s responsibilities, with regards to daily/weekly checks of machine
  • The role of operators instructions, policies and procedures
  • Shutdown procedures
