Learners must have passed the Specialist Supervisors Health, Safety & Environment test within the last 2 years, prior to course start date.

You should have sufficient experience of cranes to meet the requirements specified in British standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes.

                  

Course Objective

The objective of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to safely and competently undertake the role of a Crane supervisor on site in line with CPCS guidelines and as defined in BS7121 Part 1 2016.

The CPCS card scheme provides a registration card scheme acknowledged by industry for those involved in plant operations by recognising skills, knowledge and understanding, competence and qualifications. The scheme is based on a mix of occupational competence, experience on site and health and safety awareness.

  • Planning a lifting operation
  • Preparing a lift site in accordance with the AP’s safe system of work (end test)

 

 

Assessment:

CPCS Theory Test (Verbal – 1 hour)

CPCS Practical Test

Certification:

Successful candidates will obtain a CPCS ‘Construction Plant Competence Scheme’ card on completion, if they don’t currently hold a relevant NVQ they’ll be issued with a CPCS Red Trained Operator card (2 year validity). During the 2 year lifespan of the card candidates will need to work towards the relevant plant operations NVQ that will enable them to upgrade their Blue Competent Operator card (5 year validity).

Entry Requirements:

All candidates must have achieved the relevant CITB HS&E test within 2 years of their booked CPCS test date. It is important that any candidates have a good understanding of spoken and written English, interpreters are available upon request for those who are not fluent in English. All candidates will need to provide their own appropriate PPE for training and testing purposes.

CITB Levy Registered?

If you are registered with the CITB ‘Construction Industry Training Board’ KH Plant Training can help you claim CITB grant automatically on completion. This money is paid direct to you, we’ll simply submit the application on your behalf.

Summary

This course will consist of a large element of practical and theoretical tuition. Any delegates undertaking a NOVICE Crane supervisor course will also undertake theory training to prepare them for the Theory Test.

All of our courses are taught by experts with extensive experience in this field and are designed to be enjoyable whilst ensuring that candidates acquire the knowledge and skills required in order to pass the CPCS assessment. Candidates will be issued with a CPCS operator’s card upon successful completion.

At the time of booking onto a Novice course all delegates will be provided with KH Plant Training’s CPCS Study Guides, we encourage all delegates to read these before attending the first day of training.
