This one day course is aimed at delegates in the workplace who may find themselves needing to take charge of and manage emergency first aid skills in the absence of a first aider. This is designed for delegates working in the workplace deemed low risk in the event an emergency should occur. The aim of the course is to provide delegates with adequate confidence and knowledge to deal with any accident that may occur until a first aider or a professional within the emergency services arrives at the scene.
Objectives
By the end of the course, delegates should be able to have knowledge of:
Roles and responsibilities of the first aider
How to assess an incident and manage an emergency
Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
Dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock
Communication and casualty care
Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations
First aid skills in adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Adult seizures
Adult choking
Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Assessment
Written assessment and continuous observations of candidates by our fully qualified first aid instructors. Candidates need a basic command of English. We may be able to make specific arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact our office on 01709 963312 for any guidance and/or queries.
Summary
Upon completion, delegates will receive certification of attendance and completion of the course, accredited by Highfield accreditation which last for three years.
It is recommended delegates attend the 3 day first aid at work to progress their knowledge and ability to become a qualified first aider.
