LOLER is the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (1998) The aim of the LOLER Awareness Training course is to reduce the chances of any accidents occurring during any lifting operations in the workplace. LOLER Regulations require all lifting operations to be properly planned ans supervised by a competent designated person in the workplace. It is a health and safety regulation specific to lifting equipment.

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will have gained practical skills and knowledge about:

• Roles and responsibilities of employers and employees
• Understanding of the LOLER regulations and other relevant regulations
• Ability to interpret the information from the regulations and from the LOLER lifting plan

• Safe lifting methods
• Frequency of equipment to be inspected
• Safe working practices
• The use of external inspectors
• Documentation and record keeping
