Learners must have passed the Supervisors Health, Safety & Environment test within the last 2 years, prior to course start date.
Aim
Train selected personnel in the skills and knowledge needed to carry out the duties of an Wheeled Loading Shovel operator.
Elements Covered
Undertake all pre-use checks
Legislation, relevant regulations, confirm with manufacturers requirements as per operators handbook
Explain precautions to be taken for underground and overhead services and other hazards
Prepare and configure the wheeled loading shovel for site and road travel
Place the machine in an out of service condition
Carry out excavations from an embankment of different materials and form stockpiles and ramps
Carry out shut down and securing procedures
Ensure loading/ unloading procedures for machine transportation
CPCS Certification
Learners will receive a Red CPCS Training Operator card on successful completion of the technical tests, valid for two years. After gaining on-site experience, you must complete a Level 2 NVQ within two years to apply for the Blue Competence Card which is renewable every 5 years.
